Saddam’s Death Sentence Upheld; Execution Could Come Within Days

(December 26, 2006)—Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein could go to the gallows within days after an Iraqi appeals court upheld his death sentence Tuesday.

Last month, an Iraqi court sentenced Saddam to hang for the 1982 killings of 148 people in a Shiite town.

The deaths followed an attempt on Saddam's life there.

The appellate chamber review is the only appeal Saddam had under Iraqi law.

Now that the death sentence has been upheld, it must be carried out within 30 days.

Wow. There is justice in the world. Too bad he can't be tortured over and over again for all the countless number of other lives he is responsible. Too bad sci-fi isn't real.
